Influence
The BVCA gives us all a voice in, facilitates discussion about,
and encourages cooperative action by the neighborhood.
Details
The BVCA gives members influence – a voice in, and work toward, achieving common neighborhood goals. We help create a unified vision of who we are as a neighborhood. We encourage and facilitate the discussion of ideas that affect the neighborhood and promote cooperative action. For example – the BVCA holds informational forums on community issues.
Example
In late 2019, The Land Trust of North Alabama developed plans for a Nature Discovery Center. They proposed to build the center on Land Trust property near Toll Gate Circle. In January 2020, the BVCA held a community meeting about the project in the gym at Clements Church on McClung . The Land Trust and their architectural firm described the project. Blossomwood residents asked questions and expressed opinions about it. As a result, the difficulties of pursuing the project were brought into focus, and eventually a different location was chosen.
